A collection of collaborative LEGO displays created by WisLUG members.
Micropolis
The WisLUG Micropolis Collab is a modular city display built at micro scale, allowing members to create individual city blocks that combine into a larger urban layout. Each section can feature buildings, streets, parks, landmarks, transportation, waterfronts, or other details that help form a complete city scene.
The smaller scale allows builders to experiment with architecture, density, and creative part usage in ways that are different from minifigure-scale displays. Skyscrapers, neighborhoods, civic buildings, and tiny urban details all work together to create the feel of a full city in a compact format.
Because the layout is modular, members can contribute their own blocks while still fitting into a coordinated overall design. The result is a collaborative LEGO display that highlights variety, creativity, and the shared process of building a city one section at a time.
Moon Base
The WisLUG Moonbase Collab was a modular space-themed group display made up of sections built by different members. Each builder contributed their own part of the lunar outpost, including habitats, research stations, landing pads, rovers, communication towers, terrain, and other details that helped form one coordinated moonbase.
Although the display was built in sections, the completed layout remained the same once assembled. The modular format allowed different members to contribute individual builds while still fitting into a consistent shared design.
A monorail ran around the outside of the layout, adding movement and framing the scene without being the main focus. The result was a collaborative LEGO display that combined space exploration, engineering, and individual creativity into one unified lunar landscape.
Carnival
The WisLUG Carnival Collab is a modular group display built around the color, energy, and movement of a carnival. Members contribute individual sections that can include rides, games, food stands, midway scenes, crowds, lighting, and other fairground details, creating a layout that can change each time it is displayed.
Motion is a central part of the project. Spinning rides, moving attractions, and interactive details help bring the carnival to life and give visitors a display that feels active rather than static. Because the layout is modular, new sections can be added, rearranged, or updated over time, allowing the carnival to keep growing as more members contribute their own ideas.
The result is a collaborative LEGO display that highlights both creative building and mechanical design, combining individual contributions into a lively shared scene.
Castle V2
Castle V2 is the next evolution of WisLUG’s original castle collaboration, building on the ideas, style, and scale of the first coordinated castle project. This second version is designed to be more modular, making it easier to expand the layout and incorporate contributions from additional builders.
The display continues the medieval theme with castle walls, towers, villages, landscapes, water features, and detailed scenes of life around the kingdom. Its more flexible structure allows members to create individual sections that fit into the larger layout while still leaving room for future growth.
Castle V2 shows how a successful group project can continue to develop over time. It keeps the shared storytelling and visual impact of the original castle collab, while improving the format so more builders can participate and the display can grow more easily.
Castle
The 2022 WisLUG Castle Group Project was WisLUG’s first coordinated group collaboration after the pandemic, bringing members back together around a shared creative build. The display was made up of 96 separate modules built by more than 20 WisLUG members, each contributing their own section while working within a common castle layout.
The finished project featured a large medieval fortress surrounded by a detailed village, docks, water, ships, forests, and busy scenes of daily life. From fortified walls and towers to timber-framed buildings, market activity, boats, and hidden details, the layout showed how many individual building styles could come together into one unified display.
More than just a castle, the project represented the return of large-scale collaboration for WisLUG. It highlighted the group’s creativity, planning, and teamwork, while giving visitors a richly detailed LEGO world to explore from every side.
Train Layout
The WisLUG train layout is a collaborative LEGO display featuring a working rail system surrounded by detailed city scenes, landscapes, buildings, and custom creations from multiple members. The layout combines moving trains with sometimes realistic scenery and sometimes fantastic backgrounds along with playful LEGO details, giving visitors something new to notice from every angle.
Built as a group project, the layout changes and grows over time as members add new sections, update buildings, and bring fresh ideas to the display. It highlights the creativity, engineering, and teamwork of WisLUG members while celebrating the long tradition of LEGO trains as both a hobby and a shared public experience.
